Daphne’s Garden

Daphne’s Garden is a collaborative exploration of the plight of Daphne, a female transformed into a laurel tree by her father as salvation from a male’s aggressive advances. Natasha Carlos and Christina Tonges Korn use photography and painting to explore the feminine connection to nature and how it is offset by a constant unspoken vigilance required of females in public spaces. Nature provides both a place of retreat as well as layer of protection for Daphne.
